Making Military History in Museums
With the National Army Museum scheduled to undergo a major redevelopment over the coming years, this all-day conference, held in collaboration with the School of Museum Studies, University of Leicester, is a timely investigation of the challenges involved in displaying military stories, memories and objects in museums.
Themes include difficult histories relating to the theme of warfare; popular culture, memories and forgetting; the role of the personal narrative; the appropriateness of eliciting an emotional response to objects and the use of space within exhibition design.
